Prof. Nat Ofo, FCIS.

Professor Nat Ofo, Professor of Corporate Governance & Law College of Law, Igbinedion University, Okada, Benin-City, Edo State, Nigeria. He joined Igbinedion University, Okada, from Nigerian Breweries Plc (a subsidiary of Heineken N.V. of The Netherlands) where he occupied Middle Management and Senior Management positions in the legal, finance, supply chain, human resource and company secretarial functions during his 14-year career at the company. While he was the Company Secretary/Legal Adviser of Nigerian Breweries Plc, he was also a Director of NB Registrars Limited (a then subsidiary of Nigerian Breweries Plc).

He is the President of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) and, consequently, the Chairman of its Governing Council. Also, he is a member of the Executive Committee (EXCO) of the Institute of Directors Nigeria. In addition, he is a member of both the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association. As a Law teacher, he belongs to the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers.

His passion for corporate governance is evidenced by the fact that it was the focus of his doctoral thesis. As a prolific writer, he has written numerous refereed articles on corporate governance and other law-related issues in several learned journals and business periodicals. Also, he co-authored the Corporate Law study text of the ICSAN Examination. His articles have been published in such reputable learned journals as the International Company and Commercial Law Review, Journal of African Law, African Journal of Legal Studies, to mention but a few.

Furthermore, he is the Vice Chairman of the Steering Committee commissioned by the Federal Government of Nigeria to harmonise the numerous corporate governance codes in Nigeria and develop a National Code of Corporate Governance for the country.
