Registration Procedure

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE(Guide for new applicant)

Student registration

The Institute’s professional examination is made up of sixteen subjects which are divided into four stages. The subjects are integrated and progressive, so the knowledge gained at an early stage is a necessary foundation for later parts.

The sixteen subjects that make up the professional examination scheme are:

Exemption Policy

Non-degree holders will start from the foundation stage. They must however possess the minimum entry requirement which is five O-level credits that must include English Language and Mathematics.

Graduates with related degrees (ICSAN’S CPA, B.Sc./HND Accounting, LL.B, and B.Sc/HND Finance) are exempted from all subjects in Foundation, Pre Professional and Professional Programme Part One(1) stages, such degree holders shall be required to write and pass all the subjects in Professional Programme Part Two(2).

Non-related degrees holders are exempted from Foundation, Pre-Professional, Strategic and Operations Management and Management Accounting in Professional Programme Part 1 and shall be required to write and pass six subjects i.e. Corporate Law and Financial Accounting in Professional Programme Part1 and the subjects in Professional Programme Part 2.

Holders of professional qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CIMA and CIBN) are exempted from all subjects in Foundation, Pre Professional and Professional Programme Part 1 stages, such degree holders shall be required to write and pass all the subjects in Professional Programme Part 2.

EXAMINATION PERIOD

Examination can be deferred at any time. However, this will attract a fee of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000) per subject

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions, a FAQ is ICSAN online document that poses a series of common questions and answers that are normally asked by students.

  1. What are the closing date for the institute’s examinations?
    The closing date for June examinations is 30th of April and the 31st of October for December examinations.
  2. How do I become a chartered secretariat and administrator?
    For you to become a Chartered Secretary and Administrator, you must have registered with the Institute and passed the prescribed examinations. This will qualify you to be admitted as a Graduate Member of the Institute.
  3. What is the institute’s exemption policy
    Non-degree holders are not granted exemptions. Graduates are granted exemptions from some of the stages. Graduates with related qualifications are granted enhanced exemptions. More information on ICSAN Exemption Policy Page.
  4. How do I register online?
    New Student : Click on Students Area MENU and select New Applicant. Follow the instructions and always save a session before proceeding to the next. Make sure you have all your certificates and profile passport scanned which must be either JPEG OR PNG. After a successful submission, your application will be reviewed to determine the type of exemption you are eligible for. An email with instruction to proceed for payment will be communicated within 24hrs. After a successful payment, a student number and password will be send to your email.

    Existing applicant should click on Students Area and select Existing Applicant. Username is your student number, the default password is password . This must be changed after a successful login. Kindly endeavor to update your profile most importantly your profile picture before proceeding for exam application.
  5. What is the registration requirement?
    A minimum of a first degree in any discipline, B.Sc. /HND or any approved professional qualifications. Non-degree holders will start form the foundation stage. They must however possess the minimum entry requirement which is five O level credits and must include English Language and Mathematics.
  6. When do I become a registered student?
    Once your application has been reviewed and it meets the criteria of the Council, your registration will be approved and an admission letter will be issued which you can print online from your profile page.
  7. Are student required to pay annual subscription?
    A yearly annual subscription payment is mandatory for members in various categories;  Students =>N5,000: Graduates => N7,500 : Associates => N10,000 :  Fellows => N15,000. Subscription is due for payment on the 1st of January every year.
  8. How do I register for the exams?
    Login with your member’s number and password and click the Exam Application link, select the diet of choice (year and month) and the subjects that you wish to sit for – Please take time to study the present exam time-table which will guide you in selecting courses that are to be written at the same time. Proceed to make payment. Once payment is successful, the transaction will indicate (TRANSACTION SUCCESSFUL) then you can print a copy of your EXAM DOCKET under Members Menu.
  9. How can I check my results?
    Login with studentship details generated during registration. Under member’s area, select check my result. The result will be available at about three weeks after the end of the examination

Exemption Policy

Graduates with related degrees (B.Sc./HND Accounting, LL.B, ICSAN’S CPA and B.Sc/HND Finance) are exempted from all subjects in Foundation, Pre Professional and Professional Programme Part 1 stages, such degree holders shall be required to write and pass all the subjects in Professional Programme Part 2.

Lecture time, duration and accredited lecture centers

Lectures are organized for students preparing for the Institute’s examinations. Lectures for June examinations start in first week of February while lectures for December examinations start in first week of August. Lectures are strictly on weekends i.e Saturdays and Sundays. The lecture duration is four months for each diet.

How to Register and Apply

Please be informed that registration for the Institute’s examinations MUST be done on the website as the Institute will no longer accept manual application from students. Find below the step by step procedure on how to register for ICSAN exam, update your profile, apply for exam, check your result, print exam docket, print admission letter etc.

NEW APPLICATION
1.         Visit www.icsan.org and click on register at the upper right hand corner

OR click on STUDENT AREA menu and select “New applicant”

2.    A registration form will be displayed. For uncompleted form (form saved as draft), enter your email address and password.

For fresh applicant click on create new profile

Fill the form below and click on register

You will be presented with a form. Kindly fill the form appropriately. Note that all field marked with asterisk (*) are compulsory. Click on complete registration or save and register later.

Your application will be review and a response is expected from us within 24hrs of submission except on weekend. For every successful application, you will receive an email to proceed for payment. Likewise for rejected application, the reason will be stated and what to do next.

UPDATE OF PROFILE.
Click on my profile under members menu:

A form will be presented. Kindly fill all required fields appropriately. To update your display picture, click on browse and select the file to use. ONLY .jpg and .png are acceptable and none must be more than 100kb. After selection of file, scroll to the bottom of the form and click on save to have your picture displayed.

EXAM APPLICATION PROCESS

Visit www.icsan.org and click on login

 
or go directly to portal.icsan.org


Your username is student registration number and not your email address. This must have been sent to your email address after you made payment for registration and type of exemption given. Click here to view our exemption policy. The default password is password

 
After a successful login, a dialog box will be displayed that contain your name, registration number, current grade and outstanding dues. Please be informed that before you can successfully apply for any examination, you must clear all outstanding payments (this does not applied to new applicant).

Click on members menu and select exam application as shown below

Select exam year and diet and click on submit

 
Check the subject(s) you want to write, ensure you select exam centre close to you and click on submit & proceed with payment button

You can make payment online using Interswitch or generate invoice and make payment in bank using the eTranzact PayOutlet.

Be informed that we only accept MasterCard and Verve. Visa card payment will not go through.

Enter your card details and click on PAY

Using eTranzact pay outlet
Click on the circle beside the eTranzact logo icon to see payment summary and select generate invoice to make payment in bank as shown below. A payment ID will be generated for you, once payment is completed in bank, you transaction will be automatically updated online.

PRINTING OF EXAM DOCKET

Immediately payment for exam application is completed, you are expected to print your exam docket and keep it. It will also be available for printing until closing of exam registration. Click on Members menu and select Print Exam Docket as highlighted below:

PAYMENT HISTORY
You can view all transactions (SUCCESSFUL, PENDING, FAILED) related to your account by selecting member payment history under report menu.

PAYING OUTSTANDING DUES / FEES
Click on members menu and select My dues as demonstrated below

Select the checkbox for the outstanding dues and click on proceed to payment

You can make payment online using Interswitch or generate invoice and make payment in bank using the eTranzact PayOutlet.

Select your card type, enter your card details and click on PAY
