Prof. Bayo Adaregbe, FCIS

Bayo Adaralegbe is Partner and Head of the Energy Group at Babalakin & Co. He has an LLB from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University); an LLM (with distinction) in Petroleum Law and Policy, and a PhD (with  research focus on Investor-State Treaty Arbitration) both from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP)at  University of Dundee, Scotland. He received a full scholarship from a US Oil Corporation for his PhD studies.

He is a Chartered Secretary and Fellow, Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators, UK; Fellow, Energy Institute, UK and Chartered Arbitrator and Fellow, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK. He has memberships of 10 international and local professional associations.  Earlier on in his career Bayo was a Company Secretary/Legal Adviser in a bank. He was appointed Notary Public by the Chief Justice of Nigeria and is listed as a Solicitor to carry out legal services in the Nigerian Capital Market by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Bayo advises in the areas of Energy(Oil, Gas, Power and Renewables), Arbitration, Litigation, Banking and Finance, Capital Market, among others. He has publications in peer reviewed high impact international journals on Energy, Arbitration and Foreign Investments and his articles are frequently cited by authors in Nigeria and outside Nigeria. He is a much sought after speaker at local and international conferences and workshops, including for judicial officers. 

Bayo was appointed Adjunct Professor of International Investment Law at the University of Ibadan where he teaches postgraduate students and supervises PhD candidates. Bayo previously served on the Governing Council of the University of Lagos as a Federal Government appointed representative  and is currently serving on the ICSAN Council. He is ranked as a leader in the areas of Energy and Arbitration in Nigeria by reputable international bodies.
